Short description
The altar server’s garment is made from white linen fabric, outlined with bobbin lace at the bottom. According to the basic production technique, the piece described can be placed among the bobbin tape lace. It is a metre tape lace, namely guipure with a motif of crosses. Elements and techniques of bobbin lacemaking used: cloth stitch with six pairs with inner and outer pins; fillings: plaited net, decorative outer edge.

Original use
The described object was used as a part of an altar server’s garment for a church service.
Present use
The described garment is being preserved, secured and presented as important mining heritage of Idrija with exceptional universal values. It is physical evidence of the centuries-old bobbin lace tradition and knowledge of bobbin lace making in Idrija. It is a part of the lace collection of the Idrija Municipal Museum. Visitors can view it within the permanent museum exhibition Idrija Lace, History Written in Thread, which tells the story of the handmade, Idrija bobbin lace. More similar patterns preserved in the lace collection of the Idrija Municipal Museum can be used for other types of promotion.
