Short description
The nightgown is made of white cotton fabric, with mechanically-made lace straps sewn on. It buttons up with six buttons at the back. The top of the chest is trimmed with bobbin lace of metre type, made in a technique of cloth stitch with outer pins (edge), inside with plaits with picots. It also has lace edges on the bottom. It is a continuous metre lace with tallies and plaits with picots. On the chest part there are 12 miniatures (6 at the front and 6 at the back) sewn-in, made in a technique of cloth stitch and filled with tallies any plaits with picots. At the bottom there are eyelets sewn in and on the skirt there are 10 miniatures (5 at the front and 5 at the back) with double stitch edge and inner motif, made in a technique of cloth stitch with outer pins, plaits with picots, plaited flower leaves with picots.

Original use
The slip was a general clothing item, which was a integral part of a trousseau.
Present use
The slip is being preserved, secured and presented as an important piece of mining heritage of Idrija with exceptional universal values. It is physical evidence of the centuries-old bobbin lace tradition and knowledge of bobbin lace making in Idrija. It is a part of the lace collection of the Idrija Municipal Museum. Visitors can view it within the permanent museum exhibition Idrija Lace, History Written in Thread, which tells the story of the handmade, Idrija bobbin lace. More similar patterns preserved in the lace collection of the Idrija Municipal Museum can be used for other types of promotion.
