Short description
Regarding the typology, this tablecloth is a piece of non-continuous completed lace. It is a tape lace with simultaneously and subsequently made fillings. Elements and techniques of bobbin lacemaking used: designing a motif in a broad tape technique with outer pins; fillings: plaited flowers with picots, plaited flower leaves with picots, double tally flowers, square-shaped tallies, plaited net. The prevailing motif are flowers with typical domestic names - kranclovke, potonke (garlands, peonies).

Original use
The described object was made using the bobbin lace technique as a tablecloth.
Present use
The described tablecloth is being preserved, secured and presented as important mining heritage of Idrija with exceptional universal values. It is physical evidence of the centuries-old bobbin lace tradition and knowledge of bobbin lace making in Idrija. It is a part of the lace collection of the Idrija Municipal Museum. Visitors can view it within the permanent museum exhibition Idrija Lace, History Written in Thread, which tells the story of the handmade, Idrija bobbin lace. More similar patterns preserved in the lace collection of the Idrija Municipal Museum can be used for other types of promotion.
