Original use
From the painted tracing paper, the lacemakers could see which techniques were intended for the lacemaking. Furthermore, lacemakers still had a choice in interpreting the painted pattern (selection of a technique and elements, adjustment to their own taste and knowledge) in materialisation of bobbin lace.
Present use
The tracing paper is being preserved, secured and presented as important mining heritage of Idrija with exceptional universal values. It is physical evidence of the centuries-old bobbin lace tradition and knowledge of bobbin lace making in Idrija. It is a part of the lace collection of the Idrija Municipal Museum. Visitors can view it within the permanent museum exhibition Idrija Lace, History Written in Thread, which tells the story of the handmade, Idrija bobbin lace. More similar patterns preserved in the lace collection of the Idrija Municipal Museum can be used for other types of promotion.
