Original use
The described kit was used as an accessory for bobbin lacemaking. The bobbin lacemaking pillow with half-made lace was owned by Marija Troha, a teacher of bobbin lacemaking at Idrija Lacemaking school, between 1946 and 1971. The lace is the last work of the mentioned teacher, who was still bobbin lacemaking in her time spent in the Idrija Retirement home. The Idrija Municipal Museum acquired the pillow and lace by purchasing it from its previous owner Srečko Troha in 2008. More similar items preserved in the lace collection of the Idrija Municipal Museum can be used for other types of promotion.
Present use
The described kit of bobbin lacemaking accessories is being preserved, secured and presented as important mining heritage of Idrija with exceptional universal values. It is physical evidence of the centuries-old bobbin lace tradition and knowledge of bobbin lace making in Idrija. The set is a part of the lace collection of the Idrija Municipal Museum. Visitors can view it within the permanent museum exhibition Idrija Lace, History Written in Thread, which tells the story of the handmade, Idrija bobbin lace.
