According to the typology, the described object can be placed among the rare torchon lace. According to the type, it is a continuous metre lace. It is made with 15 pairs of bobbins. Elements and techniques of bobbin lace making used: fans in a half stitch technique, zig zag in half stitch technique and spiders to connect the zig zag with the inner decorative edge. It is typical for the described torchon lace that it is made in a geometric motif which is cyclically repeated.

Torchon lace was used for decorative trimmings (household textiles - tablecloths, cloths, clothing items). It is a pattern from a sales catalogue of one of the Idrija lace traders. This type of lace was either used in Idrija or made in Idrija and was sold to the world from Idrija. It is characteristic for torchon lace that the domestic name for it has not been preserved. At the same time, we do not have appropriate technological expressions for it in the Slovene language, therefore we use foreign, usually English, terms. Similarly as with the described object, the Idrija Municipal Museum took in most of the older lace for preservation in 1950. During that time, the trade company Čipka (1957–1999) took over the business of the previously operating Lace Cooperative. The aforementioned lace supposedly belonged to the previously operating Franc Lapajne company (1875‒1945).

The torchon lace is being preserved, secured and presented as important mining heritage of Idrija with exceptional universal values. It is physical evidence of the centuries-old bobbin lace tradition and knowledge of bobbin lace making in Idrija. It is a part of the lace collection of Idrija Municipal Museum. The described object has great value, especially so, because it is made with a demanding bobbin making technique. General knowledge of their production has not been preserved among the lacemakers, except among the teachers of the Idrija Lace-making School. It can be used for temporary museum exhibitions or for other types of promotions.

The described torchon lace was conserved in 2009. Additional interventions are not necessary. Security of the premises is taken care of.
