One of the fundamental works that describes the history and development of Idrija education covers the time period from the first Protestant schools (the second half of the 16th century) to the first Secondary School of Natural Sciences of Slovenia (1901). Especially important are the data relating to the development of education, which was partially dictated by mine development and lack of mining experts and technically trained personnel. The Idrija Mercury Mine also provided the financial assets for education. For example, the first vocational technical geodesic school was established in 1728 and in 1763, the chemical and metallurgical school, which provided the technically educated personnel. The Mine needed a lot of wood for its maintenance and operation. The forests need to be taken care of, maintained and sustained. To this end, they established the forestry school in 1892. Furthermore, in 1876, the lacemaking school was established.

The book is being preserved, secured and presented as important mining heritage of Idrija with exceptional universal values. It is kept in the collection of library material (in analogue and digital form) and is available for borrowing.
