Original use
The author covers the use and the production characteristics of the Idrija Mercury in the 16th and 17th centuries. He includes the time of the Idrija Mercury Mine nationalisation from 1575 to 1659. He also focuses on the working, social and health conditions and the rights of the miners in the Idrija Mine. A part of the book also deals with the miners’ supply problems. In addition to the aforementioned, he also analysed the theme of trading with mercury in the 16th and 17th centuries and particularly emphasised the connections with the Republic of Venice, the cities in the south of Germany and in Spain. He also paid special attention to biographical data of the Idrija Mercury Mine managers, to which he dedicated the entire last chapter.
Present use
The book is being preserved, secured and presented as important mining heritage of Idrija with exceptional universal values. It is kept in the collection of library material (in analogue and digital form). The book is available for borrowing.
