Description
Short description
The medium-sized grinder is cube shaped. The housing is made of cherry wood. The rotating part and the funnel for loading grains are made of forged iron. There is a little drawer for ground coffee. It opens with a ring and closes with a pin. The rotating handle for grinding has a turned wooden grip. The iron housing is screwed into wood with screws.

Original use
The grinder was one of the basic household accessories in the kitchen. It was used mainly for grinding coffee beans and barley grains.
Present use
The grinder is being preserved, secured and presented as important mining heritage of Idrija with exceptional universal values. It is a part of the ethnological collection. Visitors can view it within the permanent museum exhibition of the Idrija Municipal Museum in the Idrija Miner's House. It can also be used for different types of mercury heritage promotions. The items displayed in the Idrija Miner’s House take the visitors to the lives and residential code of mining families in Idrija in housing from the first half of the 20th century.

STATE OF CONSERVATION
History of conservation:
It was restored for the purpose of the museum exhibition in 2002. Therefore, no additional interventions are necessary. Security of the premises is taken care of.
