The bed stands on four legs, which come out straight from the front and back board. There are boards on the front and back side of the bed. The one by the feet is semicircular and has a large circle embedded. The headboard has an embedded rectangle and a smaller circle on top. It has a formed edge on the top side. The side boards are straight and unformed. The headboard is higher than the one by the feet.

According to Idrija tradition, the groom usually provided the bed at the wedding, thus it was often not new. The apartments in private houses were often too small to have more beds. The families in the Idrija Miner's Houses rarely had more than two beds and three in the residential blocks. The additional bed was purchased when a child was to big for the cradle. The spouses slept in the described bed. Due to the crowding in mining families, one of the children also slept at his parents feet. The bed equipment was often a corn husk inserted in a sheet. They had oatmeal chaff in the pillows. The sheets were often made out of worn, discarded mining ropes – “štrikove” sheets. The linen sheets were earned by the farmers with the extra work on the farm. Blankets and quilts were purchased in a shop.

The bed is being preserved, secured and presented as important mining heritage of Idrija with exceptional universal values. It is a part of the ethnological collection of Idrija Municipal Museum. Visitors can view it within the permanent museum display exhibition in the Idrija Miner's House. It can also be used for different types of mercury heritage promotions. The items displayed in the Idrija Miner’s House take the visitors to the lives and residential code of mining families in Idrija in housing from the first half of the 20th century.

A conservation procedure was performed on the described object for the needs of the museum exhibition. Therefore, no additional interventions are necessary. Security of the premises is taken care of.
