The top part of the pillar is of irregular shape. The top is thicker and is then tapers evenly and ends with a sharpened tip on the bottom. The tip is additionally reinforced with 4-angled iron tip, which is secured into wood with nails. The pillar is not fully preserved and has visible cracks in it, as a result of water pressures and floating timber.

The described pillar was a part of the special rake mechanism on Lenštat. The pillar was horizontally mounted into the Idrijca River riverbed. The pillar was additionally supported on the outer side, with an angle 45°, with a round log. The pillars were connected on top with longer beams that had boards on top of them. The pilots served as a support structure to fir boards (in total around 2,500). These were placed very densely, vertically and horizontally in two row and served for stopping the floating timber. The mining administration decided to chop the timber along the Idrijca River, Belca River and Zala River and then float it with the help of water barriers. The mentioned rivers flow through Idrija. The special rake mechanism was placed at the confluence of Idrijca River and Nikava River and were 400 m long in total. The first special rake mechanism was set in 1537 and was used until 1926.

The described object is being preserved, secured and presented as important mining heritage of Idrija with exceptional universal values. It is a part of the mining collection of the Idrija Municipal Museum. Visitors can view it within the permanent museum exhibition “Five Centuries of the Mercury Mine and the Town of Idrija”.
