Original use
The axe was used by foresters and carpenters for setting up the wood slides. The shape of the axe allowed easier chiselling of gutters, holes. The wood slides were made of fused logs, which were placed on the ground or the gutters, made of logs, were placed on the brackets, on which the round timber slid down, due to the slope. The sliding was improved by moisturising. The wood slide was composed of two level logs, two safety logs and two seating logs. They were placed into a semicircle and joined with plugs at contact points. The wood slides were one of the first methods for transporting wood for the Mine. They served for transporting timber to the water-flows or collection points and from there on, the wood was then transported to into the town by the yoked cattle. The last wood slides were used for transporting timber downwards from the forests under the Kodrov rovt to the Gačnik settlement, behind the forge.
