Description
Short description
The massive jug was made from baked clay and rounded quadrangular shape. The bottom is round. The narrow neck, which is also round, is chipped. A plug is attached as a screw. The jug is enhanced (tied together) with a wire, which has already partially fallen off. The bottom of the jug is slightly concaved.
Measures
Diameter 6 cm, height 45 cm.

The time of creation is unknown.

Original use
The jug served for carrying cinnabar.
Present use
The jug for cinnabar is being preserved, secured and presented as an important mining heritage of Idrija with exceptional universal values. It is a part of the mining collection of the Idrija Municipal Museum. It is stored in the depot and can be used for temporary museum exhibitions or for other types of mercury heritage promotions.

Burning plants in the surroundings of Idrija (according to the residues, 20 locations were evidenced).

The object is properly preserved. Additional interventions are not necessary. Security of the premises is taken care of.
