Description

Short description
The hoe-like tool has a long curved handle, which ends at the bottom in a rectangular shape. A triangular nozzle for collecting was mounted on that part.
Measures
Length 110 cm, width 23 cm, height 33 cm.

Original use
With a slightly bigger hoe – “krutca”, the ore or tailings were collected in the iron, trough-like vessels (“trigl”), which was used for lifting and filling the carts.
Present use
The “krutca” is being preserved, secured and presented as an important monument of Idrija mining heritage with exceptional universal values. Visitors can view it in the first part of the permanent museum display Anthony's Main Road. It is a part of the presentation that represents the entire story of mining in the Idrija Mercury Mine. Together with the nečkas, trugca and carbide lamp it represents manual ore excavation, which was in force in the Idrija Mercury Mine at the beginning of the 20th century.

STATE OF CONSERVATION

History of conservation:
The “krutca” is well preserved. It was restored for the purpose of the permanent museum display. Additional interventions are not necessary. Security of the premises is ensured.
