Original use
The crowbar (“rejštnga”) was used at the pit’s worksite for breaking rock and wood. In this case the bar is longer, so that if it was necessary, the crowbar was also used as a lever. There is no accurate information about when they started to use the crowbar in the Idrija Mercury Mine. However, it was definitely used in the pioneer period of manual excavation of mercury ore. It was used also in the 19th century. It was found in the filled shaft, which proves the fact that it was used.
