Description
Short description
The conveyor belt (motovž) for transporting ore from the sorting plant to the rotary furnace was installed under a 13° angle. The supporting construction was made from U and L steel profiles, joined together with rivets, screws and welds. The metal frame, embedded with wavy concrete roof tiles, is on this supporting structure.

Original use
The conveyor belt was a device through which the ore was transported through sorting bunkers to the ore collection silo. These were positioned next to the rotary furnaces. From there on, the ore slid towards the feeder which dosed the ore into one of the three rotary furnaces.
Present use
Mining facilities in the smelting plant area were mostly replaced with new production halls with new contents. In the middle, under the sorting plant and near the furnaces facility, the new visitors’ centre came to life. There, the permanent exhibition “From Ore to Mercury Drops” is displayed. Within the exhibition, the conveyor belt shows the ore transportation method in the smelting process. All the facilities and the machines in the smelting plant area have great historical value. This area represents a final stage of development in the 500-year-long history of mining and tradition of smelting, since its devices and objects were operating all until the mine was closed.
