The building of the Inzaghi shaft engine room has two coil drums of the export machine with safety devices and a drive steam piston machine (Compound, Breitfeld, Daněk & Co, Prague) with power 55.93 kW (75 KM). The headframe is installed at the original location above the shaft.

The Inzaghi shaft building was built in 1890. The export device was installed between 1890 and 1892.

Idrija Mercury Mine

In 1764, they began to excavate the shaft, which has the name of the mining manager (1764–1791), count Franz Inzaghi. In the entrance building of the shaft, there was also a boiler room next to the engine room. The headframe with rope pulleys was located above the boiler room. The export device, powered by the steam piston machine (Compound, Breitfeld, Daněk & Co, Prague), served to export the excavated ore from the pit to the surface, to transport the miners and material to and out of the pit. Within the great modernisation of the mine in the 1950s, the engine room and the headframe with rope pulleys were relocated from the original location next the shaft to the current location. The steam drive of the export machine was rearranged into the electric drive. The renovated export machine operated until 1977.

The engine room of the Inzaghi shaft is being preserved, secured and presented as an important monument of Idrija mining heritage with exceptional universal values. The drive steam piston machine team (Compound, Breitfeld, Daněk&Co, Prague) is located in the building of the engine room, but is not available for visitors. The drive machine was restored and conserved. The headframe and the iron wheel (for exporting rope) are also in the protected area. In the years between 2006 and 2015, the Tourist Information Centre was operating in the building, but currently it is not being used.

In 2005, the building of the Inzaghi shaft was revitalised (external wall restoration, roof replacement). The export device, including the export machine and the engines in the engine rooms were conserved and restored. In 2016, the headframe was dismantled and restored and transferred to its original location.
