The blind shafts connect at least two levels and levels and they never reach the surface. The first part of the 300 m-ong route on the level of the Anthony’s shaft ends above the entrance into the blind shaft no. 20. It is connected with the level I/20 of the Kropáč mining field and ends on level I/17. The entire shaft is coated with oak beams (dimensions 16 x 12 cm), which are placed horizontally one on top of another. Blind shaft no. 20 is adapted for visitors all up to the level I/20 and is equipped with stairs, protective fence and lighting.

Blind shafts serve for miners’ passages, material pouring or air flow. In average, they had a 2 × 3 m large opening (2 × 2m for material, 1 × 2 m for passage) and were dressed in heavy oak beams for strength and durability. Two thirds of the shaft served for pouring ore or tailings and one third for miners’ passage on ladders and for ventilation. Only the main shafts were connected with the surface and served as the entrance and exit of the miners, ore export out of the pit and importing backfill material in the pit. All the blind and main shafts in the pit were named.

Blind shaft no. 20 is being preserved, secured and presented as important mining heritage of Idrija with exceptional universal values. Visitors can view it within the permanent museum display Anthony's Main Road. The blind shaft is a part of the display, which represent the method of tunnel supporting in the mine throughout the entire history of its operation.
