Original use
The plant residues are preserved in the typical black bituminous mudstones of Skonca beds. Bituminous layers were formed in the coastal wetland at the end of the Ladinian period. Regardless that the environment was very rich with different plants – even coal was formed – the plant residues were mainly burned out. There are very little determinable residues, therefore the sample with residues of extinct horsetail and conifer is so much more important.
