Description

Short description
"It is a tunnel of about 230 metres in length that gave access to the Castillo mine and was built between 1703 and 1706, and renovated in 2006. It is all covered by masonry walls and a brick barrel vault, except for two small sections that are in rock. The cross-section varies and ranges from 4.73m2 at the beginning of the tunnel to 3.60 m2 towards the middle and to 1.89 m2 in narrower sections at the end.
From this tunnel, there is direct access to the old descent to the Castillo mine from the Retamar castle located in the middle of Almadén and one can also access the Gallery of Forced Labourers.
