Description

Short description
"These condensers were initially made of baked clay and were known as “elephant's feet” and were later made of cast iron, until switching to the current stainless steel system.

The gases that come from the furnace, after passing through a cyclone to eliminate the dust, reach the condensers.
This installation consists of a set of vertical stainless steel coils with a height of 7.5 metres where the cooling and condensation of the mercury takes place.
The SO2 gases are basically eliminated by a hearth with a discharge, which is installed in the upper part of the structure of the S. Joaquín shaft and whose emissions are controlled by the Council for the Environment of the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha.
