Description
Short description
"This mechanical preparation has always been necessary with any type of furnace. In the Cerco de Buitrones, the ore was spread and the preparation evolved through time: at first, classification and crushing was done on the ground, using various methods such as batons to split the ore and later very rudimentary mills, until the beginning of the 20th century when a more intense mechanisation began that ultimately evolved into today’s method.
Before entering the furnaces for roasting, the ore is subjected to preparation consisting of the following processes:
The ore that arrives from the S. Teodoro feed hopper goes to two metal hoppers with a capacity of 130Tm each. From them, by means of a feeder and conveyor belt system, it passes to a Symons MH/02 cone type mill with a crushing capacity of 40Tm/hour, driven by a 60hp engine.
The product that comes out of the mill has the particle size of less than one inch, which is ideal for entering the furnace.
In the bottom part of the mill, the product falls to a conveyor belt and to a feeder from where it is collected by a bucket elevator that lifts it to four ore silos of 125Tm each.
From these silos and through a system of feeders and bucket elevators, the ore is taken to the metal hoppers to feed the furnaces.
