Description
Short description
The tour of the interior of the mine also brings us to places where geological observations of great interest can be made: different types of rocks (quartzites, slates or volcanic rocks), verticality of the layers due to the folding effect that they were subjected to about 300 million years ago, but perhaps the most spectacular are the traces of waves that have been recorded in them. Although Almadén is now located about 500 metres above sea level and about 300 kilometres from the nearest coast (beaches of Málaga), in the period between 500 and 300 million years ago it was covered by a shallow sea and shaped by currents and tides similar to those of today.
