Description

Short description
"The experiment consists of pressing the switch and observing the lamp that is turned on.
During the first seconds, the light it emits is red and later it begins to turn white, reaching a light output much higher than that of conventional light bulbs.
Why did the color and intensity of the light from the bulb change? Mercury bulbs are made of a quartz tube with tungsten electrodes at the ends. The tube contains a few milligrams of mercury and a cushion gas that conducts the electrical discharge while the lamp heats up enough to evaporate the mercury and this is what causes the discharge."
