Description
Short description
Model that demonstrates the Larrañaga exploitation method that was used in the Almadén mine from the year 1803. The system devised by Larrañaga (manager of the Almadén mine) was developed in three successive stages. In the first, the central strip of ore was removed from the ore-containing layers, which were almost vertical; in the second, the lateral walls of the deposit were excavated incompletely, by means of cross-drilling; finally, in the third stage, the remaining columns of ore, called reserves, had to be engaged, after which the extraction of the ore from the deposits was completed.
