Description

Short description
"Triple distillation is a process to increase the purity of mercury. It consists of heating liquid mercury three times to turn it into a vapour state and then condensing it again.
Using this technique, a purity of 99.99% is obtained, which is necessary for its use in various industrial applications, such as dental amalgam or precision instruments.
This triple distiller was installed around 1980 to meet the demand of some industries that were consumers of mercury. However, the purity of Almadén's mercury is such that 99.9% is obtained in the first distillation, with no significant differences compared with the triple distillate."
